Oscar Gomez Sanchez
Óscar "Huaqui" Gómez Sánchez (1934-2008) was a Peruvian soccer player, nicknamed "Huaqui" who stood out in the Peruvian soccer team, the Alianza Lima club in the 1950s and in Argentine soccer in the 1960s. . Huaqui was a skillful, fast, dribbling left winger, with mastery of both profiles and goalscoring ability. He is one of the great strikers in the history of Peruvian soccer. He was a devilish dribbler who shone as one of the best players in South America in the 1950s and early 1960s. He was the younger brother of a Peruvian soccer idol in the 1940s, Carlos Gómez Sánchez, but over time he ended up building an even more prestigious career than this. Generally left winger, he could play perfectly for both profiles with a lot of speed and goalscoring ability thanks to a well patented powerful shot. With Alianza Lima he formed "El Nuevo Rodillo Negro" which in the mid-1950s won a two-time championship alongside talents such as Félix Castillo, Willy Barbadillo and Valeriano López.
From 1952 to 1958, 89 goals in 104 games are documented, in 1959, he was transferred to River Plate playing alongside historical players such as Ermindo Onega and Norberto Menéndez as a starter in that great team.
