Editor's letter

Editor's letter:

Remembered reader friend: This is a letter of greeting and reflection.

First of all, greet you with affection and gratitude for your continued interest in reading “Stories and Narrative that I have given you for many years.

Also thank you for the comments and encouragement that you send me, when the reading of an article is of interest. Thank you very much reader friend.

However, this year 2020 that is already leaving us, has had its good part for each individual, because the life that is given to us is always a gift to enjoy it.

Nevertheless, just as coins have two sides, in this year 2020 extremely painful events have occurred that have affected our entire world. In February, Australia suffered the greatest environmental catastrophe in its history. Due to gruesome forest fires that burned millions of hectares and forests; human losses, homes and villages affected with two billion dead wild animals and livestock. Later we were affected by the economic recession. That same month, the first outbreaks of Covid 19 appeared which turned out to become the great global pandemic, which we had never experienced. Until now, we see in the sources of information, it’s devastating consequences of loss of human life, nations collapsed in their medical services, economies in recession, globally affected tourism, budgets of nations for development turned into debts with unimaginable figures.

Likewise, even the vaccines developed by multinational pharmaceutical companies still do not solve the problem, due to certain imperfections given the complexity of the virus, as well as the great task of vaccinating the entire world population of our planet. For this reason, we can only wait and "get used to" living with this new virus, as we have been doing with the known viruses that still affect us. We are trapped with the dilemma of survival, no longer observing it from the outside, as was the case before, but now also in our own cities.

In addition, to finish I ask myself: Is this pandemic that Jesus refers to in the Gospel of John 26: 3-13?

3 And while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him aside, saying: Tell us, when will these things be, and what sign will there be of your coming and of the end of the age? 4 Answering Jesus, he said to them: See that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and many will be deceived. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; See that you are not disturbed, because it is necessary that all this happens; but it's not the end yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be plagues, and famines, and earthquakes in different places. 8 And all this will be the beginning of pain. 9 Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. 10 Many will then stumble and give themselves up to one another, and hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise, and will deceive many; 12 and because wickedness has multiplied, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

 With affection,

Ruben
