Pablo Picasso inaugurated his first real exhibition there on February 1, 1900, made up of some one hundred and fifty portraits made a few weeks earlier in charcoal and sometimes colored in pencil or watercolor. The exhibition took place in the Els 4 Gats tavern in Barcelona.
